Here are some images from Laage, Germany where the Luftwaffe
celebrated it’s 50th anniversary (Federal German Luftwaffe, of course)
As my camera equipment is not that professional I had to confine
myself to the static display but enjoyed the flying display as well,
including Eurofighter Typhoon, various Tornados, F-4F Phantom, Transall,
E-3 AWACS, CH-53 and UH-1D.
My pictures include:
- F-4F JG 74, Luftwaffe
- F-16B Turkish AF
- A-10 Spangdahlem AFB, USAF
- F-15C Lakenheath, USAF
- F-15E Lakenheath, USAF
- F-5 Austrian AF
- F-16A Belgian AF with great artwork on the fin
- F-16B Royal Danish AF also with special markings on the fin
- Su-22 Polish AF with Tigerhead and flames on the nose
- MiG-29UB Hungarian AF
- EF Typhoon Royal Air Force
As impressive as the new Eurofighter performs a take-off in full
burner going straight into a vertical climb until out of sight right -
my personal favourite sight of the day was a four-ship formation of F-4F
Phantoms, breaking into a landing pattern darkening the sky with smoke.
With a little luck the Luftwaffe will operate Phantoms until 2010 as
one of the JG74 pilots told me; he still has full confidence in his 32
year old aircraft.
