Introduction

 

Here are a few photographs of the Arado Ar234B-2 F1+MT W.Nr.140173. I wanted to clarify some points about the camouflage of this aircraft:

  • Note that the light overspray does not appear on the uppersurface of the Wings and Fuselage (see photo above as an example).

  • The yellow "M" only appears on one side of the fin (see photo below. Also note the extended ropes for the drag chute stretched out on the ground behind the fin).

 

 

  • Kit and decal manufacturers always seem to include the Werknummer. of this aircraft on the fin, I am not sure why as the Werknummer. does not appear in photographs of the aircraft. Is this a throwback to the Lindbergh Kit of the Ar.234 of all those years ago, which if memory serves me had the W.Nr. on the fin?

 

 

The image below is an enlarged version of the one above. Note the detail of the mass balance, the trim tab actuator and the navigation light surround. The prominent panel lines and the taped repair to the bottom of the fin cap is also of interest.
