Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight
by David Hannant
Last Saturday, May 5, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight held an
open day at Duxford and took all their aircraft.
The main attraction was the newly painted Lancaster which, by
some coincidence, has been painted in the markings that we put on
one of the
Lancasters
on an Xtradecal sheet a couple of years ago, X05572.
Real life follows the models!
They also hoped to fly the entire formation for the first time
ever, and did - the Lancaster, 2 Hurricanes and 5 Spitfires.
Normally it is the Lancaster with a couple of fighters, so to see
all seven was an amazing sight.
The sound of 8 Merlins and 3 Griffons will never be forgotten.
