Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6
Cockpit in Detail

by Norman A. Graf

This photograph of the Bf109G6 (originally a Spanish-built Hispano HA1112) cockpit was taken at the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio during the open-cockpit visit organized by the IPMS US National Convention held in Columbus, Ohio in 1997. Although excellently restored, it is missing several of its instruments. Photographs of other restored instrument panels can be found here.

Photos can also be found of the port and starboard cockpit walls.

Placing your cursor over an element in the photograph will bring up a descriptive text box. On some of the features, clicking will bring up an auxiliary web page with further photographs and explanatory text.

In addition to the information provided by the cockpit itself, information from the following books (amongst others) was used in constructing these pages.

  1. 'Messerschmitt Bf109G', Aero Detail 5, ISBN 4-499-20589-1, p. 63.
  2. 'Wings of the Luftwaffe', Eric Brown, ISBN 1-85310-413-2, p. 154.
  3. 'German Aircraft Interiors', Kenneth A. Merrick, ISBN 0-914144-41-3, p.136.
