Honduran F4U-5N Corsair

by Floyd Werner

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale F4U-5N is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here are some photos that I took of an F4U-5N Corsair while I was in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1982. This is the subject aircraft that Dave Aungst built in his Honduran F4U-5N article.

Pay no attention to the young GI standing on the airplane. That would be me when I was 18 or 19. The aircraft was at the airport waiting for a museum to be built but I don't think it ever was.

You'll note that there are kill markings on both sides of the cockpit and the gear covers only have the last two digits. The style of propeller tip markings is also of interest.

I will get around to building this airplane too someday!
