In the early 1970s, Aeroflot and Japan Air Lines created an
interchange agreement allowing direct airline service between Tokyo
and Moscow. Aeroflot contributed one of its then-new Il-62s (NATO
code name Classic) to this venture.
Shown in Aeroflot's stylish (at least in Soviet terms) early
livery for the type, and carrying the JAL crane logo and titles,
SSSR-86682 was one of the first Il-62 deliveries.
