IPMS Nationals 2004

Friday and Saturday at the IPMS USA Nationals brought more modellers through the doors, many of whom were HyperScale visitors. It was great to put names to faces for the first time with HyperScale regulars such as Phil "Bondo" Brandt, Roger Jackson and many more; and catch up with others who I have met at earlier conventions.

Fotios Rouch, David Hannant, Jules Bringuier, Steven "Modeldad" Eisenman, Eli Raphael

Saturday afternoon's HyperScale Reception was well attended. We had a roll call of attendees, then Jules Bringuier from Classic Airframes presented some surprise awards before the floor was opened to general questions. The CEOs from both Eduard and MPM/CMK also made themselves available for questions.

As always, the IPMS USA Nationals were exhausting but a fabulous opportunity to meet and greet, and to catch up with almost the entire US model industry under one roof.

If you've never been to one, do yourself a favour some time and see for yourself.

Roll on, Atlanta 2004!

More new release news from the IPMS Nationals:

CMK / MPM / Azur etc

At the HyperScale Reception, CMK/MPM made a surprise announcement of a forthcoming 1/48 scale injection moulded Heinkel He 177 Greif. There will be more details about release dates and the kit contents in the coming months.

They also had test shots of MPM's 1/32 scale Polikarpov I-16, due for release next month.

Images of test shots from MPM/CMK's forthcoming releases will be posted in tomorrow's update.

Trumpeter

The test shots for Trumpeter's forthcoming releases were initially lost in transit but, to everyone's great relief, they finally arrived on Friday morning. Stevens International had test shots for a wide variety of Trumpeter kits on display including their 1/24 scale Fw 190D-9, 1/32 scale Su-27; 1/48 scale P-40B, 1/350 scale USS Nimitz and many more.
