IPMS USA
Nationals 2007 - Day 3 |
With the model room quickly filling in advance of
judging tonight, some beautifully detailed and painted kits were on
display. Public attention was intense.
I have some more news from the IPMS USA Nationals
today:
Hobbylink Japan
Scott T. Hards and the HLJ crew made the trip across the Pacific to
once again attend the IPMS USA Nationals. The Fine Molds 1/72 scale
Messerschmitt Bf 109s, plus Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Ki-61 and P-47
kits that they brought along were all snapped up by the end of the
first day.
Scott had a sample of the forthcoming Fine Molds 1/72 scale A6M2
Zero. This is a remarkable kit, and appears to be Fine Molds' most
detailed offering to date. The Zero will only be available as part
of a package with two Model Graphix magazines, but HLJ is hoping to
secure overseas distribution rights prior to release. Stay tuned for
more on this one.

Scott advised that some of their other hottest sellers have been
the brand new Fine Molds Y-Wing Fighter (from Star Wars - see the
model built by Scott himself below) and re-releases
of the long out of production starship USS Enterprise, repackaged
and with new decals. Bandai's new range of 1/35 scale hybrid Gundam/Military
diorama sets are proving popular too.
Tamiya's 1/35 scale mid-production Hetzer was also on the stand,
as was the new 1/48 scale US Infantry set (including a "light
vehicle" which looks remarkably similar to a Jeep).
Battle Ready Armor
Battle Ready Armor attended the show with several of
their big and impressive 1/6 scale sheet metal armor model kits with
injection moulded tracks.
Some of the kits included a late Panther G, Panzer
IV, Sturmgescgutz IV and Elefant.
More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Testor
Testor was present with samples of the packaging from their
forthcoming range of Lacquer Spray Cans. These are designed to be applied in a
single coat over bare plastic, and will be very fast drying.
A range of metallic colours will be offered, most suitable for
model cars. A number of car models treated with this new paint were on hand.
They looked very impressive.
Also on the Testor stand was a new noiseless compressor.
More news about these new releases will be posted in the coming
weeks.

Hasegawa announced a new 1/72 scale B-24D Liberator, due for
release later this year.
Trumpeter
Stevens International were at the show with a stack of new and
forthcoming Trumpeter releases including the 1/32 scale P-47D Thunderbolt and
F6F Hellcat, 1/35 scale Stryker and E.25, and many more
