Description

Here is an original photo of an M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight", at a field maintenance depot during the Korean War.

Of special interest is the three colour camouflage scheme used on this vehicle. The darkest colour appears to be the factory finish of US Olive Drab, with the medium green and tan colours being field applied.

Note that the US stars are all painted on patches of the original Olive Drab colour, which has a slight sheen when compared to the very flat field applied colours.

The photo was taken by Phil Symond during his tour in Korea. Thanks also to Garry Loveria for forwarding this fascinating image.
