Description

Here is a 1:1 replica of the Little Boy atomic bomb that I constructed for the Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Delivery, installation and presentation took place on July 18, 2005.

The museum had been without a 'Little Boy', due to reclassification of certain items, for 4-5 years. Since it was decided that there should be something to fill the void for the 60th anniversary, my company, Synthetic Authentics(Alba, Texas), was contracted to construct this replica. My co-fabricator, Rob Pfaff of Mineola(Texas) Pipe & Steel Fabricators, and I worked from de-classified drawings and photographs provided by Los Alamos National Labratories to achieve a high degree of accuracy.

It was decided by the museum staff that 'L 11' would not be put on the ballistic case in that people would constantly be asking about 'L 1 - L 10' which could not be disclosed.

Our next project is a full scale replica of "Fat Man". Having lots of fun over here!
