A Visit to
Meteor Productions

The last port of call on my recent US visit was Meteor Productions. Meteor Productions produce, distribute and sell brands including Cutting Edge Modelworks, Teknics, Yellowhammer, Black Magic and Hawkeye.

Meteor Productions' office and warehouse is located just south of Washington D.C. in a small industrial estate. Their catalogue runs to thousands of items. The stock is well laid out and is stored in a surprisingly compact warehouse area.

My visit was a good opportunity to check out some of the original masters of Cutting Edge detail sets. The following photographs show the masters of the 1/32 scale MiG-21 cockpit set. It is interesting to note the large amount of white styrene used to create these parts. Other materials such as lead foil and fusewire are also apparent on the masters.

In his upstairs office, Scotty Battistoni was quite pleased to show me his meaningfully messy workbench with a few inches of actual workspace exposed.
