In May 2002, I was fortunate enough to visit the Midlands Air Museum at Coventry when the Sea Vixen was "unbuttoned", giving access to both cockpits and the radar.
The aircraft, serial number XN685, is in pretty good shape, even though the paintwork was quite faded. The Museum has a rolling programme of refurbishment and they use very durable modern paints, as the majority of their exhibits are kept outdoors.
In September 2003, I did a quick walk-around of XS576 at Duxford, so all the hanga-r images are from that visit, most noteworthy are probably the air brake photos. In October 2004, she was parked outside on the flight line for the October Air Show, so I took the opportunity to bang off a few more shots of her in the unusually sunny conditions!
If anyone has any queries regarding the photos, please feel free to contact me directly.
