Description

The M6 Motorway was a car park leading to Birmingham, so I prised open my wallet to pay £4.00 for the tollway. With this small injection of cash I was suddenly moving toward Telford at a rapid rate.

Telford. Home of the IPMS UK Nationals, ScaleModelworld.

I dropped in to take a few photos while traders and clubs were setting up.

ScaleModelworld now occupies three enormous halls at the Telford International Centre. When I arrived around 5:30pm, the area was taking shape as the biggest hobby shop in the world.

Even at this early stage, a freshly minted 1/72 scale Xtrakit Gloster Meteor NF.11/12/14 was thrust into my hands. This offering is based on the older but very sound Matchbox kit (produced after the Mad Trencher had retired), and includes three new markings options - two RAF and one French. Hannants will have the kit on sale at Telford from tomorrow for £6.95. While stocks last, Hannants will also be offering showgoers who buy this kit an additional decal sheet, free of charge, with 11 more marking options.

I will look forward to catching up with many of HyperScale's and Missing-Lynx's visitors over the weekend. When I am not prowling the corridors, you will be able to find me at the ADH Publishing stand.

For those of you who can't make it to the show, stay tuned for daily news of new and forthcoming releases.
